Gull is diverting 50,000 litres of ethanol to be used in hand sanitiser production to meet urgent demand from healthcare and emergency services.
Ethanol, which is typically used as a fuel additive, is also a key ingredient in the production of hand sanitiser, and a nationwide supply shortage has brought local production to a standstill.
